Ethnography

Understanding how modern populations interact with the ocean through tangible and intangible cultural practices allows us to generate testable hypotheses concerning past behaviors. In addition, ethnographic research conducted today generates valuable information about current practices that would be of great use to future scholars.

Curation and Education

The SEA Project stores and curates ethnographic, archaeological, and other materials in a manner respectful of local cultural traditions. In addition to preserving important material culture, the curated materials are also used in museum displays and teaching kits for popular education.
